Training


2019 sees the launch of the Trust's programme of training for our Local Governing Body Members. 

Starting in early February the Trust's two-year rolling programme of training will begin with:

  • 'Understanding and Bringing Challenge Through Data' a session designed to introduce Members to the data sources available to them, what the data tells them and how they can use this to inform the strategic plan for their school. 

The programme will then continue with:

  • 'Preparing for Ofsted' a course tailored to an individual school this time for Lorton School. This training will be rolled out as needed across our schools to ensure they are prepared for their inspection.

  • A Heads and Chairs Session: Tuesday 30th April. Now an annual event this is an opportunity for Heads and Chairs to discuss together the different aspects of their roles in the strategic management and direction of their schools. Previous sessions have led to the creation of this programme.

  • Monitoring the Effectiveness of Teaching and Learning: Date and Venue to be confirmed

In future the programme will be developed to include training on the following areas: 

  • Introduction to your Role: A session designed to demystify the role of the Member and remove some of the fear around the Health and Safety responsibilities, the safeguarding role, the SEN role and subject area leads. This will be aimed at new Members or those taking on new responsibilities.
  • Confident Panel Working: Working as part of a complaints, exclusion or other panel can be daunting, this course will aim to give Members confidence in how to manage such panel work should they ever have to participate in such proceedings.
